At Yotober, we are committed to safeguarding families while empowering creativity. Our platform allows children and parents to co-create magical audio stories for smart speakers in a safe, secure, and legally compliant environment.

1. Our Commitment to Child Safety

Yotober is proudly headquartered in Ontario, Canada and complies with all applicable child protection laws, including:

  • Provincial privacy requirements under the Ontario Child, Youth and Family Services Act

All audio content on Yotober must be:

  • Age-appropriate for children under 13
  • Free of violence, hate speech, and inappropriate language
  • Respectful of copyright and privacy rights
  • Reviewed by our "human-in-the-loop" system, where the account owner (the verified adult tenant) approves and initiates final audio publication

2. Parental Control and Consent

Yotober is a parent-first platform. We never allow children to create, upload, or share audio content without direct adult involvement.

  • Only verified adult users can initiate the conversion of stories into audio
  • All content creation tools are gated behind account verification
  • Audio sharing is optional and entirely parent-controlled
  • Consent is required for any content that includes personally identifiable information (PII) or recordings

3. Privacy & Data Minimization

We prioritize data privacy through industry best practices and Canadian legal compliance:

  • We collect only what is necessary to deliver the service
  • Audio content and metadata are stored securely and can be deleted upon request
  • We do not share children’s data with third parties for marketing or analytics
  • Users may access, correct, or delete their data at any time via our platform

4. Responsible Audio Creation

Our Composer tools allow families to generate imaginative stories using AI. Here's how we ensure responsibility:

  • Tenant review is mandatory before content can be published or streamed
  • Smart speaker publishing (e.g., Alexa, Google, Yoto) requires explicit user action
  • All content is filtered using automated moderation plus human oversight by the account owner
  • We maintain audit logs of all content creation events for transparency and compliance

5. Reporting and Content Moderation

We provide a community-safe environment by enabling:

  • Content flagging by creators and listeners
  • Account-level restrictions for repeated violations
  • Internal audit mechanisms to detect and prevent unsafe or unlawful content
  • Optional review of user-generated content in response to parent complaints or legal obligations

6. Data Hosting and Security

All data is stored in compliance with Canadian and international standards:

  • Secure servers located within Canada or jurisdictions compliant with adequacy decisions under Canadian law
  • Encryption in transit and at rest
  • No public access to stored audio files without explicit user sharing
  • Breach notification procedures in place as required by PIPEDA

7. Platform Integrity and Smart Speaker Publishing

We integrate with smart speaker APIs while respecting developer and user safety requirements:

  • We do not control third-party devices unless authorized by the user
  • API credentials are securely stored and never exposed publicly
  • We follow device manufacturer guidelines for safe, child-friendly audio publishing
  • All publishing is initiated explicitly by the adult user
